This is Hal. Hal is diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and can’t sit independently. We received a request to purchase a special Tomato chair for Hal so that he could sit comfortably without having to sit in his wheelchair all the time.
Hal’s medical insurance wouldn’t pay for it because he already had something to sit in (his wheelchair), and State programs available would reimburse the parents, but they would need to purchase the chair first and be reimbursed, which they couldn’t afford to do.
This kind of situation is exactly why we started Caswell For Kids. Kids shouldn’t have to be uncomfortable just because our system doesn’t work.
We reached out to a local grant giving organization and were able to secure funding for this item.
